R12: Clearing the mid-tier Cache without a bounce using Functional Administrator Responsibility

When we make any changes to configuration, the page is often stored in the cache. As a result, we may not see the changes. This could happen, for example, when we add a new responsibility, set profile options to payables, purchasing or iProcurement, etc.

Clearing mid-tier cache makes the OA (oracle application framework) engine to refresh the middle-tier cache by reloading the configurable or session dependent values like personalizations, responsibilities and profiles options directly from the server.

Oracle Caching Framework allows to clear the caches in the mid-tiers. Caching Framework comes with an administration user interface, which is available under functional Administrator responsibility.

A WORD OF CAUTION: Please get the advice of Oracle Support Services before clearing cache in PRODUCTION environment. Also, please use this feature only during off-business hours when users are not in oracle. Clearing the OA Framework cache in PRODUCTION when multiple users are logged into oracle applications could cause data issues.

Responsibility = Functional Administrator

Navigation = Core Services -> Caching Framework -> Global Configuration -> “Clear All Cache” button (Warning Clicking on ‘Yes’ will clear all the caches across all the mid-tiers. This will impact performance. Are you sure you want to proceed?) -> “Yes” -> “Apply”
